Health Plans
Health coverage is available to eligible employees and their dependents through the CalPERS Health Plans system. The CCCOE pays the premium cost equivalent to the single party Kaiser rate. The employee, through payroll deduction, pays costs in excess of that amount for eligible dependents. View 2011 rate chart (PDF)

Dental Plan
All eligible employees must participate in the Delta Dental Service plan. The CCCOE pays the premium cost equivalent to the single Delta Dental rate. The employee, through payroll deduction, pays costs in excess of that amount for eligible dependents.

Vision Coverage
All eligible employees and their dependents can participate in the VSP Eye Care Health Plan. The CCCOE pays the premium cost equivalent to the single VSP rate. The employee, through payroll deduction, pays costs in excess of that amount for eligible dependents.

In Lieu of Benefits
If an employee does not need health and/or vision coverage under the COE group plans, they will receive monthly in cash the difference between $419.70 and the cost of required coverage.

Income Protection (Insurance)
Employees are provided with a district paid income protection plan that provides for continuation of approximately two-thirds salary for extended absences.

Sick Leave/Personal Necessity
Employees on a basic work year contract shall accrue ten (10) days of sick leave per year. Part-time employees earn sick leave on a prorated basis. Unused sick leave will accrue from year to year.

An employee may use his/her accumulated sick leave in cases of personal necessity. Use of sick leave under this provision may not exceed (10) days in any fiscal year

Retirement Benefits
Certificated employees working 50% or more time in a fiscal year are enrolled in the State Teachers' Retirement System (STRS), which is an employer/employee contributory plan. Currently, STRS members must contribute 8% of their salary through payroll deduction.

Employees are enrolled in a Medicare only plan under an employer/employee contributory arrangement.

Enrollment information for these benefits is available in the Human Resources Department.
