Health Plans
Health coverage is available to eligible employees and their dependents through
the CalPERS Health Plans (link to CalPERS page) system.
The CCCOE pays most of the premiums depending on the plan selected. View

Dental Plan/Vision Coverage
All eligible employees must participate in the Delta Dental
Service plan and the VSP
Eye Care Health Plan.
In Lieu of Benefits
If an employee does not need health coverage under the COE group plans, they will receive a monthly
cash-in-lieu benefit. However, any agency paid benefits (medical, dental, or vision) will be deducted
from this amount.
Life Insurance
A $10,000 employer-paid group life plan is available to all employees with optional
additional coverage available for purchase at the employees expense.
Disability Coverage
Employees are eligible to apply for State Disability Insurance benefits through
the California State Employment Development Department. Disability insurance
payments are integrated with available sick leave benefits.
Sick Leave/Personal Necessity
Sick leave is accumulated for full-time employees at the rate of eight (8) hours
per month. Part-time employees earn sick leave on a prorated basis. Unused
sick leave will accrue from year to year.
An employee may use his/her accumulated sick leave in cases of personal necessity. Use of sick leave under this provision may not exceed (10) days in any fiscal year.
Holidays
Employees who work full-time qualify for 13 paid holidays and 1 floating paid holiday annually.
Vacation
The vacation accrual rate for classified employees is determined by length of
service with the agency. Vacation accrual for 1-15 years of service is 15 days
per year. Part-time employees earn vacation on a prorated basis. Vacation time
is accrued during the first six months of employment but cannot be used until
the employee has passed the probationary period.
Recognition for Schooling
Full-Time employees are eligible to receive reimbursement of up to $300 annually
for tuition and book expenses. Additionally, full-time employees are eligible
for an annual stipend of up to $600 for completion of approved college courses.
Retirement Benefits
Classified employees working 20 hours per week or more are enrolled in the Public
Employees Retirement System (PERS). Currently PERS members must contribute
4.15% of their salary through payroll deduction. The CCCOE pays 2.85% of the
required 7% employee contribution.
AD&D Insurance
A free $1000 group accidental death and dismemberment benefit plan is available
to all employees with optional coverage at the employees expense available
for family members. (Note: This is NOT Life Insurance)
