Benefits:
County Office of Education benefited employees enjoy health, dental,
vision, retirement, vacation, and sick leave depending on the classification
of their position. Temporary, part-time (less than 50%), and substitute
employees are not eligible for benefits. Link

Salaries:
New classified employees normally start at the minimum salary shown
and increases are granted at intervals based on satisfactory service.
New certificated employees are placed on the certificated salary schedule
according to their experience and education. All salaries as stated
are based on present information and are subject to change. Link

Immigration and Reform Act:
In compliance with the Immigration and Reform Act of 1986, the Contra
Costa County Office of Education will only hire those individuals who
can show evidence of identity and employment eligibility.
Health Requirements:
Candidates selected for employment will be required to file evidence
of having had a tuberculosis examination with a negative result within
60 days prior to the start of employment.
Character Investigation:
California law requires public education employees to be fingerprinted
for the purpose of a confidential background investigation. An applicant
will be barred from employment if he or she has a prior conviction for
a serious or violent felony as specified, unless the applicant has obtained
a certificate of rehabilitation and pardon, or if for a serious felony,
a court finding of rehabilitation.
The CCCOE may also obtain confidential references from former employers.
Union Dues:
Classified employees are represented by Public Employees Union, Local
1 and are required to pay union dues, equal to 1% of gross salary, or
a service fee through payroll deductions.
Certificated employees (with the exception of CDCR Teachers) are represented
by the California Teachers Association (CTA) and are required to pay
union dues or a service fee through payroll deductions.
Management, Confidential and Professional Administrative employees
and CDCR (California Department of Corrections) Teachers are not represented
by a union.
